A Word to my Readers

Author Parker Harrison became a child of God when she said ‘yes’ to Jesus at age nine. That was over six decades ago, and, oh, the stories she could tell about life with the Best. Father. Ever.

A word to my readers —

Thank you for reading Princess Oni. I hope her story blesses you as much as me.

Unoni had several names through the book: Unwanted, slave, orphan, Oni, daughter, princess. You, too, will have lots of names or titles in your life. You might be a son, daughter, father, mother, employee, or boss, depending on your age and the choices you make as you grow older.

Throughout my life, I’ve had many names, too, but the one I love the most is “Child of God.”

Guri the hermit told Unoni, “Every little boy is a prince and every girl a princess. Sadly, most never know.” What did he mean by that?

Did you know there is a God who created every boy and girl to be his children? He wants us all to be his princes and princesses. Sadly, many people never receive God’s love.

In the Bible we learn that God created the first man and woman, Adam and Eve. He loved them, enjoyed their company, and walked and talked with Adam and Eve every day. God meant for all people to enjoy that union with him.

But Adam and Eve lost this special relationship with God, and when that happened, God was sad. People forgot they were princes and princesses.

Since God still wanted every boy and girl, mother and father, to be his children, he sent his own son, named Jesus, from Heaven to Earth. Jesus lived a perfect life. He died a terrible death. After three days, he rose again and talked with his friends and then returned to Heaven. Before he left earth, Jesus promised he would always be with us if we invite him to come live in our hearts.

That is a mystery only God understands. But if we ask him in, and mean it, we can walk and talk with God just like Adam and Eve did.

When Prince Aman asked Unoni to become his daughter, she had a choice to make. Did you want her to say yes? Just like Prince Aman hoped Oni would say yes to being his daughter, God wants us to answer yes to Jesus. If you ask him into your heart, you become the son or daughter of God forever, not only on this earth, but in Heaven for all eternity. You can talk with him every day.

Always remember, you are meant to be a prince or princess, adopted by God—if, like Prince Aman told Oni, you only say yes, and mean it.

I invite you to join me on this wonderful journey as a child of God. I’m so glad I said ‘yes’ to Jesus.

Love,

Parker Harrison
